“The Miss World organisation has long stood as a beacon of international connection and understanding, fostering cross-cultural appreciation and collaboration. Through its platform it empowers women to become global ambassadors, allowing them to embody and represent the unique beauty of their nations on a prestigious platform,” said Jansen Van Rensburg.
“I am forever in awe of your work, Lesego and I know you will be a committed and excellent Minister of Youth. Here’s to shattering glass ceilings, ending inequality and eradicating stereotypes about pageantry,” she said.
Chombo, an attorney, Miss Botswana 2022 and Miss World Africa 2024, was appointed by newly elected president Duma Gideon Boko in his new cabinet.
“Her journey illustrates that with the right mindset and access to adequate resources, one can forge their own path to success and make a significant impact. Lesego’s unwavering determination and commitment to excellence not only resonate within her community but also serve as an inspiration to aspiring leaders around the globe. Her achievements reflect a powerful narrative that encourages others to pursue their dreams and strive towards greatness, reinforcing the idea that personal success can indeed inspire broader societal change,” said Jansen Van Rensburg.

Jansen van Rensburg will represent South Africa at the Miss World finals in February 2025. The venue will be announced by the London-based Miss World Organisation soon.
“It was on the night she was crowning her successor that she spoke of the power of education and thanked her country for providing her with the education that meant she never has to worry about the trajectory her life will take, “Jansen van Rensburg said of Chombo.
“As our nation continues to grapple with providing education for all its citizens, I see our reigning Miss World Africa as the embodiment of the doors Madiba (President Nelson Mandela) reminded us would open through education,” said the Miss World South Africa 2024.
