Nande Mabala, a model, social and media entrepreneur, believes that the most successful people possess fivesoft skills, courage, communication skills, discipline, leadership and resilience.
Mabala, 26, from Zwelethemba, Western Cape, formed “Go Green SA” her Beauty With a Purpose sustainability project which uses agriculture as a tool to teach students soft skills to contribute to the fight against global warming in her rural township of Zwelethemba in the Western Cape.
FIGHT AGAINST GLOBAL WARMING
“Go Green SA built two farms with two schools in Mbizana. We teach the students not only to commercialise the farm and sell the crops to local businesses but also plough back into the school either by developing school infrastructure or funding school outings.
“This teaches them autonomy and eliminates helplessness. They get to see the fruits of their labour and they change the world. By equipping them with these skills are creating leaders and change-makers that can develop their communities for the next generation,” said Mabala.
Mabala, a Bachelor of Arts graduate describes herself as a loving and purpose-filled being, driven by self-determination to achieve her goals.
She has worked with charity organiations for the good of her community.
DREAMING BIG
Last year she partnered with the Imbumba Foundation to run the “Keep a Girl Child in School” which provided the Zwelethemba students with sanitary towels for a year.
“To date, we have distributed 3590 sanitary towels and kept 369 girl children in school during their period for ten months now.
“I dream big and leverage my skills to their fullest extent, especially in advocating for children and fostering self-expression. Additionally, I prioritize sincerity, truth, and the pursuit of knowledge in all aspects of life,” said Mabala.
